ABOUT THE PROJECT

This residence in the popular, idyllic neighborhood of Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY features reSAWN’s wide plank rift and quarter sawn, character grade white oak flooring.

The unique grain patter of rift & quarter sawn white oak is prominently on display here. RIFT SAWN lumber is produced by first cutting the log into quarters and then making alternating cuts that are perpendicular to the annual growth rings. QUARTER SAWING produces boards with mostly vertical-grain and a distinctive figuring often referred to as “flecks”, “flakes” or “ray flecks” caused by the medullary rays of the log.

The wide planks and character grade serve to further accentuate the beauty of white oak.
