Located in Boston’s Fort Point neighborhood, Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar is the newest member of COJE Management Group’s portfolio of trendy and inviting restaurants in the Boston area. Lolita is poised to hold its own in the bustling neighborhood with a substantial tequila selection, an attractive semi-private dining space, a patio on the water, and a fun menu that ranges from octopus tacos to turkey taquitos, lobster fideos to three kinds of guacamole.

In designing the space, COJE managing partners Chris Jamison and Mark Malatesta envisioned a restaurant that was part Catholic Church part catacombs.

“Intimate is critical,” said Jamison. “Each city is different, has its own quirks and idiosyncrasies. Two of the traits that Bostonians value are intimacy of space and warmth in design. Soaring, modern, and austere are words that rarely define anything successful in Boston. We respond to intimate, authentic, and warm. We use materials, furniture, and design elements to make spaces feel smaller — weird, right? — and warmer.”

One of the highlights of the restaurant is a private dining space with an eye catching ceiling feature – hundreds of skulls circling above the 12 person dining table. To anchor the space, they chose reSAWN’s KINOKO shou sugi ban charred reclaimed hemlock as interior cladding along the entire back wall of the intimate nook.

KINOKO shou sugi ban charred hemlock features CHARRED reclaimed hemlock burnt in the Japanese style of shou sugi ban.  KINOKO can be used for interior wall cladding, ceiling cladding and millwork – call to discuss exterior. This is reclaimed wood and will have typical reclaimed character marks including checking and knots.

KINOKO is carefully charred, misted with water, cooled, brushed and then stained/sealed.  The top coat sealer is applied prior to shipping.  The burning process accentuates the wood grain and creates varying colors when viewed from different angles and in different light.

EXPECT BEAUTIFUL WEATHERED WOOD
Our charring & sealing process makes for beautifully designed exterior wood siding.  Like any exterior wood siding prefinished or finished in place, these materials will weather naturally over time and will require maintenance.  For interior applications, expect little to no change.

reSAWN’s CHARRED offering features cypress, western red cedar, Accoya, Kebony, black walnut, red oak, white oak and reclaimed hemlock that is burnt in the Japanese tradition of shou sugi ban.  Our award-winning CHARRED products pay homage to the traditional Japanese technique of “shou-sugi-ban” aka “yakisugi” without being literal.  Historically very specific in their definition, “shou-sugi-ban” and “yakisugi” have become common nomenclature for modern charred wood designs in general.  All of reSAWN’s CHARRED products are made in the USA, in our facility in Telford, PA.
