The Local Project: Panorama House
Located at the base of Flagstaff Mountain, the Panorama House is a meticulously designed mountain retreat offering stunning Flatirons views. The design seamlessly integrates with the outdoors, creating a warm and inviting interior while honoring the site’s natural topography and historical significance. Timber is a cornerstone of the material palette, with wood cladding chosen to reflect mid-century design principles while ensuring durability and environmental stability. Abodo® Vulcan cladding enhances the exterior’s rich texture and warmth, which is crafted from sustainably harvested wood. Over time, the black cladding will gracefully develop a natural patina, deepening the home’s connection to its surrounding landscape.
Abodo’s product line holds certification from the California Building Commission, making it eligible for inclusion in the Building Materials Listing Program (BML) Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) Products Listing. Abodo® distinguishes itself as one of the few approved cladding materials for buildings in WUI zones. Architects and contractors can reliably specify Abodo® for use in all regions without facing constraints from WUI restrictions. This flexibility is essential for projects like The Panorama House, emphasizing the significance of choosing safe building materials. Homeowners can be confident knowing that utilizing Abodo® cladding enhances the safety and resilience of their homes against potential wildfire threats.
Project Needs: The architect had previously worked with our materials and was impressed by their quality and ease of use. For this project, they needed a solution that met Boulder County’s stringent CalFire listing fire code while having a finish that aligned with the designers design vision.
Project Solutions: Abodo was selected for its exceptional performance, aesthetic appeal, competitive pricing, and compliance with fire code requirements. The architect specified Abodo to align with their vision and meet the project’s unique needs. Our team worked closely with the builder, providing tailored support, submittals, and an early mockup showcasing cladding and screening wall elements. Through multiple site visits and in-person meetings, we ensured seamless execution and collaboration.
Project Results: The client, builder, and architect were highly pleased with the material, citing its exceptional performance and ease of installation. The architect continues to specify our products in their projects, demonstrating a high level of satisfaction with the materials’ quality and the services we provide. Our reputation for excellence in the Boulder area remains strong, and we look forward to further collaborations.
