Nestled along the coastline of Martha’s Vineyard, Breezy Point project is a private coastal residence designed to embrace expansive ocean views and the quiet character of its natural surroundings. Inspired by the region’s historic farmhouses, the home pairs a restrained architectural palette with natural materials that respond gracefully to the changing seasons.
The thoughtful use of wood throughout the exterior and interior creates a seamless connection between the architecture and the surrounding landscape, allowing the home to age naturally within its coastal setting.
The exterior is clad in WILLIWAW Weathered Alaskan Yellow Cedar, selected for its refined, naturally weathered appearance and exceptional long-term performance. Featuring clear vertical grain, WILLIWAW offers a clean, consistent surface with subtle tonal variation that reflects the colors of the surrounding coastline while providing outstanding durability for exterior applications.
Inside, SNOHOMISH Western Hemlock ceiling cladding introduces warmth and continuity throughout the living spaces. Finished with a plant-based, zero-VOC hardwax oil, the light-toned material complements the exterior cedar while reinforcing the home’s natural, understated aesthetic. Both materials support the project’s emphasis on timeless design, healthy interiors, and responsible material selection.
Building on a longstanding relationship with Hutker Architects, RESAWN collaborated closely with the design team throughout material selection and finish development. A curated selection of product samples allowed the architects to evaluate appearance and performance before specifying WILLIWAW for the exterior and SNOHOMISH for the interior ceilings.
This early collaboration and ongoing technical communication helped ensure the selected materials aligned with the project’s architectural vision while delivering the long-term durability required for a coastal environment.
