OTJ Architects led the renovation of the Investment Company Institute (ICI) headquarters, transforming a 1993-era workplace into a modern office that supports the organization’s continued growth. The redesign emphasizes transparency, collaboration, and employee well-being by replacing enclosed offices with glass-fronted spaces that maximize natural daylight throughout the workplace.
Staff lounges, wellness areas, and meeting spaces are unified through a timeless palette of natural materials and contemporary furnishings, creating a welcoming and productive work environment.
WESTPORT North American Black Walnut flooring was selected for its rich color, distinctive grain, and enduring character. Installed in a dynamic combination of diagonal, vertical, and horizontal plank layouts, the flooring introduces movement and visual interest while complementing the office’s clean, contemporary architecture.
Manufactured from select-grade FAS (Firsts and Seconds) North American Black Walnut, the flooring offers exceptional material quality with minimal natural defects, making it well suited for high-end commercial interiors. Its durability and timeless appearance provide a sophisticated foundation that enhances the workplace while supporting long-term performance.
Collaborating closely with the project team, RESAWN provided a flooring solution that balanced design objectives, project schedule, and budget. After evaluating multiple material options, the architects selected WESTPORT for its rich natural character, availability within the required lead time, and ability to meet the project’s performance and aesthetic goals.
OTJ Architects creates inspiring, resilient spaces that uplift communities and support diverse individuals. They value agility, integrity, and strong partnerships, ensuring ethical design and lasting relationships to benefit clients and enrich cultural experiences.
