Set on more than two acres in Alpine, Utah, Three Falls is a contemporary mountain residence designed to embrace its spectacular surroundings. Framed by views of three mountain peaks and surrounded by nearby trail systems, the home balances privacy and tranquility while remaining within easy reach of downtown Salt Lake City.
Natural materials define the architecture, with wood, stone, and copper working together to create a refined exterior that feels deeply rooted in the landscape.
The exterior is clad primarily in GRAPHITE thermally modified radiata pine, paired with natural stone and accented by copper gutters that develop a rich patina over time. The restrained palette allows the home to blend naturally into its mountain setting while introducing texture, warmth, and lasting architectural character.
Crafted from thermally modified New Zealand plantation timber, Abodo® Vulcan is engineered with a patented vertical grain orientation that delivers exceptional dimensional stability, reduced resin content, and long-term weather resistance. Finished with Abodo Protector Oil, GRAPHITE combines refined plant oils, UV protection, advanced water repellency, and enhanced fungal resistance to provide superior exterior performance. The fine sawn face texture enhances the natural grain while improving finish penetration for lasting durability.
Seeking a natural wood cladding that balanced contemporary aesthetics with long-term exterior performance, the project team selected GRAPHITE for its durability, weathering characteristics, and refined appearance. The coordinated use of wood, stone, and copper creates a timeless material palette designed to age gracefully while requiring minimal maintenance.
