The Independence Health Group is the leading health insurance company and strives to build healthier lives for its customers. Serving more than 8 million people nationwide and nearly 2.5 million in the region, the newly designed IBX Center for Innovation included RESAWN’s CUSTOM Black Walnut flooring as a part of its new two-story, 30,000 square foot building, specified by Meyer Design Inc. It also included CUSTOM shou sugi ban charred Cypress interior wall cladding at the cafe and our CUSTOM reclaimed wood wall cladding on the logo feature wall.
The project incorporates three distinct RESAWN wood products, each serving a unique architectural purpose. CUSTOM Black Walnut flooring provides a refined foundation throughout the interior, showcasing the rich color variation and natural grain characteristic of plain sawn Black Walnut. Its durable prefinished surface makes it well suited for high-traffic commercial environments while bringing warmth and sophistication to the workspace.
Within the café, the CUSTOM Cypress wall cladding introduces depth and texture through the traditional Japanese charring process, creating a dramatic visual contrast against the surrounding finishes. At the feature logo wall, reclaimed wood celebrates the character of reclaimed wood, with pronounced grain, weathering, mineral staining, nail holes, and other natural markings that create a distinctive focal point and reinforce the building’s authentic material palette.
