Nestled away on 1/3 an acre in Washington, D.C., this private residence features over 3,500 square feet of TEAK Abodo Vulcan Cladding. The home was originally built in 1976 and received a beautiful, modern redesign. This modern home features floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing the homeowners to truly appreciate the sunlight, nature, and landscaping from the home’s interior. The architect notes, “But most dramatically, to take complete advantage of light, sun, and views, is a series of cantilevers that allow the building to extend toward the trees and allow those within the house to almost touch the branches through the glass.”

TEAK by reSAWN TIMBER co. features Abodo Vulcan Cladding finished with Abodo Protector Oil which uses the latest in waterborne oil technology combining refined plant oils, UV protection, advanced water barrier composition, and an enhanced fungicidal package for superior exterior performance.

Based in New Zealand, Abodo prides itself on producing a range of beautiful and durable timber solutions that are safe, sustainable, and renewable. The company has a strong ethos around ensuring its timber is ethically sourced and demonstrates extended producer responsibility. From milling to building, they respect their material, the people who use it, and where it comes from. For every tree milled, Abodo ensures it provides more than 30 years of service, which is as long as it takes to grow a replacement tree.
