Tucked away on nearly 8 acres in the coveted Colony at White Pine Canyon, Aspen Meadows is a dream mountain retreat in Park City, UT. Surrounded by old-growth forests, serene lakes, and cascading waterfalls, this residence invites its residents to indulge in the ultimate alpine escape. With over 8,000 sq.ft. of CUSTOM RESAWN cladding and slats, the home blends into its wooded surroundings, appearing as if it has always been part of the landscape.
Seeking a durable, low-maintenance exterior material capable of withstanding Utah’s demanding mountain climate, the design team selected CUSTOM thermally modified radiata pine cladding by RESAWN. Sourced from sustainably managed New Zealand plantation forests, the modified wood cladding offers exceptional dimensional stability, weather resistance, and long-term durability.
Inspired by RESAWN’s weathered STRAW finish, the architects collaborated with the RESAWN team to develop a custom color that complemented the surrounding forest while allowing the home to blend naturally into its environment. The fine sawn face texture enhances the natural grain of the wood while improving finish penetration for consistent weathering and lasting performance.
Throughout the design process, RESAWN worked closely with the architect and builder to develop custom color samples and construct a full-scale field mockup, allowing the project team to evaluate the finish under actual site conditions before finalizing the specification.
To achieve the home’s clean architectural detailing, RESAWN also supported the custom slat installation strategy. Sections were preassembled using concealed aluminum channels and hidden fasteners, creating crisp, uninterrupted lines while maintaining the intended architectural aesthetic and long-term performance.
