Located in the wooded landscape of New Canaan, Connecticut, the James House is currently undergoing a renovation that respects the home’s original 1965 architecture while introducing updated materials and modern amenities. The design maintains the simplicity and horizontal lines characteristic of New Canaan’s modern residential architecture, strengthening the connection between the home and its natural surroundings.
The exterior is clad in MYNAH FSC®-Certified thermally modified radiata pine wood cladding, selected for its warm natural tone and long-term durability. Paired with natural stone, the cladding creates a restrained material palette that complements the surrounding landscape. The vertical grain tongue-and-groove profile reinforces the home’s clean geometry while providing a refined exterior appearance.
Throughout the specification process, RESAWN provided product samples, installation support, and technical guidance to assist the design team in evaluating material options. Working closely with the project team, the cladding was selected to meet the project’s goals for aesthetics, durability, and long-term performance in New England’s climate.
The renovation is currently under construction as the project continues toward completion.
