Located in Irvington, New York, the Riverside Haven Project is currently undergoing a renovation and addition overlooking the Hudson River. The updated design enhances the home’s connection to its waterfront setting while incorporating natural materials that complement the surrounding landscape.
The project includes more than 3,000 square feet of exterior wood cladding, selected to provide a timeless appearance and long-term performance.
The exterior features SURETO charred Cypress, chosen for its distinctive weathered gray appearance and natural durability. Produced using the traditional shou sugi ban process, SURETO is carefully charred, cooled, brushed, and finished to accentuate the wood grain while creating subtle tonal variation that changes with light and viewing angle.
The combination of charred Cypress and the home’s waterfront setting creates a natural material palette that complements the architecture and surrounding environment.
The project team explored several wood options in search of a gray-toned material that combined strong exterior performance with a refined aesthetic. RESAWN provided product samples to support the evaluation process, allowing the team to compare finishes and determine the best fit for the project.
Following the review, SURETO was selected for its distinctive appearance and suitability for the home’s architectural vision.
Construction is underway, with installation of the SURETO charred Cypress cladding progressing as the renovation and addition continue toward completion.
