Sycamore Court brings a modern residential vision to the tree-lined streets of Raleigh, North Carolina. Blending the region’s traditional character with a contemporary approach, the award-winning home inspires the community. Balancing privacy, light, and material expression, this cohesive living environment is open, welcoming, and brings a sense of well-being to its occupants and surroundings.
Charred NIGIRI cladding is integrated into vertical slats, providing privacy without limiting natural light across the home’s large central windows. Also used for the deck beams, the chemical modification of NIGIRI offers the durability and stability required for consistent performance in various outdoor conditions.
Collaboration between project teams ensured clear direction on exterior weathering and maintenance guidelines for the cladding. The project required custom pieces that were discussed early in the design process and successfully tailored to ensure alignment with the design vision. Technical specifications provided further support during the installation process for the custom wood elements.
