The Cove Project is currently under construction in Charleston, South Carolina, where it embraces the character of coastal living through a unified natural material palette. Designed to connect with its surrounding landscape, the home incorporates over 22,000 square feet of wood across both the interior and exterior, creating a cohesive architectural expression that extends throughout the residence.
The project features WILLIWAW Alaskan Yellow Cedar, selected for its naturally weathered appearance, durability, and versatility across interior and exterior applications. Its light beige tone with subtle gray undertones complements the coastal setting while creating a consistent aesthetic throughout the home.
Known for its exceptional dimensional stability and natural resistance to rot and decay, Alaskan Yellow Cedar is well suited for demanding exterior environments while bringing warmth and character to interior spaces.
The homeowners discovered WILLIWAW while searching for a natural wood material that could be used consistently throughout the home. During the specification process, RESAWN worked closely with the architect and builder, providing product samples, technical guidance, and information on weathering characteristics, available dimensions, and application options.
To validate the material’s suitability for the coastal environment, a field mockup was installed, allowing the project team to evaluate the product’s appearance and performance before moving forward with the specification.
Construction is underway, with WILLIWAW being installed across both the interior and exterior as the residence continues to take shape.
