“We started with a simple idea, and a familiar one: Less is more. The Hamilton is for savvy urbanites seeking less complexity and more efficiency. Less so-called luxury and more genuine worth. Less unneeded space and more thoughtful design. Less ho-hum and more fun.” — The Hamilton
The Hamilton is a 500k square foot mixed-use development located on the Community College of Philadelphia’s campus and burgeoning Museum District neighborhood. It was developed by Radnor Property Group who teamed MSD alongside MYArchitecture. They drew inspiration from the growing trend toward living more sensibly, more sustainably :: Reducing our impact on the planet :: Owning less stuff but sharing more experiences — an ethos shared by reSAWN. LOCK HAVEN is sourced from domestic newly harvested hickory which reSAWN finished with a zero-VOC natural oil that respects the look and feel of the wood.
LOCK HAVEN by reSAWN TIMBER co. features plain sawn, character grade, newly harvested HICKORY prefinished with our hardwax oil. Hickory is one of the hardest domestic woods available with a Janka rating of 1820. PLAIN SAWN boards are produced by cutting tangentially to a tree’s growth rings producing the familiar “cathedral” or “flame” pattern on the board face. The annual growth rings are generally at a 0° – 30° angle to the face of the board.
The grain pattern of hickory is mostly straight and open, but some boards have burled or curly grain. The heartwood of hickory is tan or reddish; while the sapwood is white to cream, with fine brown lines creating a pleasing mix of colors.
Our natural oil is non-toxic and 100% VOC-free and produces a durable, matte finish that respects the natural look and feel of the wood.
