In the rolling countryside of East Aurora, New York, sits The Miller Residence. With four-season scenery, southeast of Buffalo, this architectural build demands resilience and a natural connection to the landscape. This fully custom residential home is attention-grabbing at every corner.
Extending from the open concept kitchen to the radiant living spaces, our CUSTOM European White Oak provides consistent color and tone throughout the interior. The material is used for the flooring and the entirety of the ceiling, creating visual continuity between surfaces. The tight grain of European White Oak contributes to a timeless interior with natural elements of sustainability and a healthy indoor environment. The exterior cladding and soffits consist of WILLIWAW and thermally modified NERO, both selected for their stability and performance in the varied weather conditions of Western New York.
The architects and builders of Crafted Concepts sought a material system that could perform across multiple applications while maintaining a consistent architectural expression. The design incorporated exterior cladding, soffit material, interior flooring, and ceiling cladding that required reliable durability and visual continuity. Controlling both the design and construction, constructability, and compatibility with building systems were key decision drivers.
To support the project’s wide range of applications, our specification consultant provided technical support, working closely with the design-build team to evaluate finish options, material performance, and installation guidelines across both interior and exterior applications. Modified wood and high-end exterior wood products were a priority. By providing a versatile product line and samples, we supported the full range of uses required for the design vision and enabled the project team to specify products with confidence.
