Nestled into the coastal landscape of Cape Cod, Truro House is a thoughtfully designed retreat that blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Carefully positioned within the hillside, the home preserves the site’s mature trees and native vegetation while creating a strong connection between architecture and landscape.
Its restrained material palette and contemporary design allow the residence to settle naturally into the coastal environment, balancing modern architecture with the rugged beauty of Cape Cod.
The exterior is clad in IKIGAI shou sugi ban acetylated modified wood, selected for its deep charcoal appearance, exceptional durability, and long-term performance in a demanding coastal climate. The rich, charred finish complements the surrounding vegetation while providing a refined architectural contrast that will weather gracefully over time.
Crafted using the traditional shou sugi ban technique and engineered from acetylated wood, IKIGAI combines the beauty of charred wood with the exceptional dimensional stability and durability of acetylated timber. This high-performance material offers outstanding resistance to moisture, decay, and movement, making it ideally suited for exterior applications exposed to coastal conditions.
