Full renovations are in progress at the Pacific Point House, transforming the 1960’s residence into a fully-custom, modern home. Set between the Pacific Ocean and the foothills of the Santa Ynez Mountains in Carpinteria, CA, the upgraded Pacific Point House is designed to be an extension of its natural surroundings. Thoughtfully reimagined to embrace natural light, outdoor spaces, and breathtaking views, the home reflects the relaxed and refined spirit of Southern California living.
This elevated coastal retreat features SIOO:X Abodo Vulcan Cladding, chosen for its ability to naturally weather into a soft, silvery-gray. The mineral-based SIOO:X treated wood is initially a warm yellow-brown, gradually transforming over 6-12 months into a uniform patina for a façade that elegantly evolves over time.
A striking compliment to the soft, silvery tones of the SIOO:X cladding, SAMITTO Charred Accoya was selected for accent areas, including a horizontal plank feature at the front of the home. The charred, textural finish enhances the exterior, while providing outstanding performance, dimensional stability, and resistance to the extreme climate of oceanfront living.
The clients sought materials that delivered both beautiful aesthetics and proven performance in coastal environments; they were drawn to SIOO:X for its superior weathering capabilities and WUI Compliance, an important factor in specifying wood in high-risk zones like California. After installing mockups, the design team was impressed by the weathering and performance of the products and returned to reSAWN for additional materials to expand its use across the home’s exterior.
