The Grand Rapids Residence is taking shape along the scenic shores of Lake Michigan. Unlike many traditional cottages in the area, this house incorporates modern design elements that set it apart. The Grand Rapids Residence showcases the beautiful results of RAILAY by reSAWN TIMBER co. This Accoya wood cladding offers a choice between 1C, prefinished with one coat of oil, or 2C, which requires a second coat on-site for a richer, longer-lasting color. As seen with the Grand Rapids Residence, the second coat deepens the initial tone of the wood, creating a more striking visual impact. Accoya® boasts exceptional low-maintenance properties and long-lasting durability. Thanks to a patented acetylation process, it resists shrinkage and warping even in harsh weather conditions, making it the perfect choice for this scenic Lake Michigan residence.

Project Needs: The builder met with a reSAWN specification consultant to find a material that could withstand the Midwest climate while maintaining its aesthetic and structural integrity. Our Accoya product line was identified as the perfect solution for the project’s location and design.

Project Solutions: The builder received several Accoya samples, closely evaluating the texture, tones, and overall feel of the wood cladding. RAILAY 2C was selected for its deep, rich color tone, durability, and warranty.

Project Results: Despite the winter installation, the builders were highly satisfied with how smoothly the process went and with the wood’s performance, particularly after applying the second coat. They are eagerly anticipating completing the project in the coming weeks.
