Located in King City, Ontario, the King City Residence is currently under construction within the rolling landscape of the Oak Ridges Moraine. Surrounded by mature woodlands, the home is designed to complement its natural setting while utilizing durable exterior materials suited to Ontario’s seasonal climate.
The project features more than 1,700 square feet of exterior wood cladding, creating a warm, weathered appearance that blends with the surrounding landscape.
The exterior is clad in WILLIWAW Weathered Alaskan Yellow Cedar, selected for its naturally weathered aesthetic, durability, and dimensional stability. The pre-weathered finish provides a consistent appearance from installation, minimizing the aesthetic variation commonly associated with naturally aging wood cladding.
Sourced from the Pacific Northwest, Alaskan Yellow Cedar is valued for its resistance to decay and long-term exterior performance, making it well suited for climates that experience significant seasonal change
The project team selected WILLIWAW to achieve a natural wood exterior that would complement the surrounding wooded setting while providing a consistent weathered appearance over time. Throughout the specification process, RESAWN worked with the design team to provide product guidance and support, helping ensure the selected material aligned with the project’s aesthetic and performance objectives.
Construction is underway, with installation of the WILLIWAW Weathered Alaskan Yellow Cedar cladding progressing as the residence continues to take shape.
