This exquisite estate features over 4,000 square feet of WILLIWAW exterior wood cladding. Known as “The Best Place to Own a Second Home In Tahoe”, Martis Camp is a 3,177 acre private, luxury community located midway between North Lake Tahoe and historic Truckee, California. The forests, meadows, beaches, and creeks are just some of the countless beautiful features of this community. Amenities include private, direct ski access to Northstar California, a Tom Fazio designed golf course, and a state-of-the-art spa.
WILLIWAW is a high-performing, natural material with a weathered aesthetic. Clear vertical grain Alaskan Yellow Cedar contains few character marks. WILLIWAW is durable, dimensionally stable, resistant to rot and insects, and has a light tan/gray, weathered look.
Sourced along the Pacific coast from Alaska to Oregon, Alaskan Yellow Cedar is well known as the hardest cedar in the world. Its slow growth rate makes it highly resistant to disease and decay. It also has a high degree of stability. We chose Alaskan Yellow Cedar for its ability to accept and hold finishes, which made it a perfect species for our weathered designs. The weathered designs provide an exterior material that will have minimal aesthetic variation throughout its installation.
Dynerman Architects, led by Alan Dynerman, FAIA, is small, versatile, and with experience and scope that belies its size. Their portfolio comprises work across the country and in Asia and projects that include campus planning studies, corporate headquarters, high-end residences, a chapel, even a puppet theatre. This broad body of work reflects the firm’s diverse and comprehensive strengths and is evidence of their rare depth of experience.
