Located just 90 minutes north of San Francisco, Sonoma County is a scenic area settled in the heart of California’s wine country. Just outside of the picturesque city center, this residence is tucked back on a winding dirt road leading high up into the hills of Sonoma Valley. With sweeping views of the entire valley, this home’s location created the overall aesthetic for the design of the interior of the home.
Combining the desire for a modern, bright kitchen while also embracing the historic wine country surrounding the home, the owners chose to incorporate all wood cabinets. Matthew Chase Woodworking chose reSAWN’s BUCOLIC BLANC reclaimed hemlock that they crafted into a one of a kind kitchen. Pairing the rustic white cabinets with black marble countertops, milk bottle light fixtures and a custom bubblegum pink stove helped create a truly unique space.
BUCOLIC BLANC features antique reclaimed hemlock that has been wirebrushed to accentuate the unique grain pattern of hemlock and finished with a stain/sealer. Expect lots of texture and variation to the grain. Standardly used for wall and ceiling cladding (not appropriate for flooring). HEMLOCK is one of the harder of the softwoods with a Janka rating of 500. BUCOLIC BLANC is rich in both color and character marks include mineral staining, color changes, weathering, checking, nail holes, and knots.
