The Radecki Residence is in progress, located in the architecturally renowned town of New Canaan, Connecticut. Designed to reflect a modern aesthetic appropriate to its setting, the home features vertically installed charred wood cladding that emphasizes clean lines and expansive window openings that contrast against the dark façade.
Seeking a high-performance shou sugi ban solution with a consistent weathered appearance, the architect initially reached out to better understand long-term material behavior and finish evolution over time. Throughout the specification process, the project team collaborated closely with one of our specification consultants, reviewing samples, weathering documentation, installation guidance, and a full-scale mockup to confirm finish, profile, and performance expectations prior to final approval.
Selected for its charred appearance, dimensional stability, and durability, IKIGAI was installed across the exterior façade. The product’s refined finish and consistent performance supported the home’s modern architectural detailing while meeting the demands of a long-lasting exterior wood application.
The project continues a growing relationship between RESAWN and the architect, with multiple additional residential projects currently in development utilizing exterior wood solutions.
