The Cove Project is currently in its construction phase in Charlestown, SC, where it embodies the essence of coastal living. Situated in an ideal location for nature enthusiasts, it offers abundant recreational opportunities nearby, fostering community engagement and outdoor gatherings. To achieve a cohesive look that blends with the coastal surroundings, The Cove Project incorporates over 22,000 square feet of WILLIWAW Alaskan Yellow Cedar on both the interior and exterior. Chosen for its weathered appearance and versatility, WILLIWAW cedar embodies the homeowner’s vision of a harmonious and uniform aesthetic.

As one of reSAWN TIMBER co.’s most specified products, WILLIWAW Alaskan Yellow Cedar offers an unprecedented aesthetic that only enhances with age. WILLIWAW features a light beige color with gray undertones, with a unique appearance in any lighting. Its versatile color complements every environment, providing a natural look as if it has always belonged there. Beyond aesthetics, WILLIWAW offers exceptional durability, dimensional stability, and resistance to rot and decay, making it suitable for a variety of interior and exterior applications.

Sourced along the Pacific coast from Alaska to Oregon, Alaskan Yellow Cedar is well known as the hardest cedar in the world. Its slow growth rate makes it highly resistant to disease and decay. We chose Alaskan Yellow Cedar for its ability to accept and hold finishes, which made it a perfect species for our weathered designs.

Project Needs: In their search for a unique material suitable for both the interior and exterior of their home, while also achieving a weathered, natural, and uniform aesthetic, the homeowners discovered reSAWN TIMBER co.’s Alaskan Yellow Cedar online. They subsequently collaborated with Lake Flato Architects and Naramore Construction to incorporate this vision into their design.

Project Solutions: A reSAWN specification consultant educated both the builder and architect about application options, weathering characteristics, and available dimensions. Samples of WILLIWAW Alaskan Yellow Cedar solidified everyone’s belief it was the perfect choice, meeting all project needs. To further confirm its suitability for the coastal location, a mockup was created, which demonstrated excellent performance in the home’s specific climate conditions.

Project Results: The homeowners are highly satisfied with reSAWN’s ability to provide custom solutions tailored to their project needs and requirements. Their decision to use WILLIWAW has met their expectations, and they are excited to observe how the exterior evolves in its environment.
