Along the coast of Massachusetts, Wellfleet Modern continues to progress as a contemporary residence overlooking the natural landscape of Cape Cod. With the clean lines, generous space for outdoor living, and connection to its environment, the home’s design brings modern architecture to the character of a New England coastal town. 

RESAWN partnered with Architectural Design, Inc. and Art Hultin & Co. early in the specification process to identify a natural wood cladding solution that aligned with the project’s design intent and budget. The project team ultimately selected IRUKA charred cypress for its distinctive tones and dimensional variation that enhanced the character desired for the home. 

Early collaboration also included providing exterior installation guidance to the architect and builder before the material was ordered. With an experienced installation team and a straightforward application, IRUKA became an integral part of the exterior material palette. The charred cypress moves across the façade with natural shifts in tone and texture, giving dimension to the architecture against the Cape Cod setting.
