Thoughtfully designed to support the client’s vision of a place for family and friends to gather with a large kitchen, dining area, and multiple guest accommodations, the home is warm and inviting with classic finishes that elevate the space, like ACE European White Oak flooring and ceiling cladding by reSAWN TIMBER co.
Sunlight from the windows illuminates the floors, highlighting the natural charm of the character grade European White Oak. Selected to allow for the presence of knots and sapwood, the material creates an organic, biophilic feel that meets the homeowners request for an interior that blends itself with nature.
Technical & Support Highlights:
To support the client’s desire to harmonize the interior of their home with the surrounding wooded landscape, reSAWN TIMBER co. collaborated closely with the design team to explore a wide range of finishes across different species and products. Through consideration of different designs, widths, and tones, and samples, ACE European White Oak was selected. Key aspects of the solution included:
- Ideal Width & Dimensions: reSAWN offers a wide selection of flooring sizes to accommodate different design needs. The project architects utilized various widths across the floor and ceiling cladding, including 5″, 7″, and 8-5/8″ options. The wide face of reSAWN’s European White Oak flooring showcases the full character and natural tones sought after by the homeowner to complement the earthy color palette of the rest of the home.
- Engineered Construction: Culver Homestead was designed and built specifically to accommodate and entertain guests, so dimensionally stable, durable flooring was necessary. ACE was suggested for its substantial 6mm wear layer and matte polyurethane finish designed to maintain its aesthetics while supporting the bustling social lifestyle of the homeowners.
- Visual Interest: Looking for a touch of timeless elegance and a distinctive style to their homestead, the clients opted for a herringbone pattern design. ACE European White Oak is engineered to support a herringbone floor pattern, with a classic appeal that adds warmth, character, and visual interest to the space.
