This Main Line pool house and squash court features reSAWN’s BRIZA pre-weathered Atlantic white cedar. reSAWN’s pre-weathering finish process allows BRIZA to be seamlessly carried from the exterior cladding into the interior wall and ceiling cladding with minimal color change over time.

Skylights in the deep overhang allow borrowed light to reach interior spaces, and also provide glimpses of the sky from the squash court below.

To minimize its volume adjacent to an existing pool, the regulation-sized squash court was partially submerged into the earth. A grade level entry through the more appropriately scaled pool house structure also functions as an upper-level viewing deck for the court below.

BRIZA, by reSAWN TIMBER co., features Atlantic white cedar that is sustainably harvested along the coastal plain region of the United States and is intended to provide a high performing, natural material with a weathered aesthetic.

BRIZA can be used for interior or exterior wall cladding and is available in select and select tight knot grade. Select grade Atlantic white cedar contains few character marks. In contrast, select tight knot Atlantic white cedar is immediately recognizable for its large knots and various, distinct character marks.

Combining Atlantic white cedar’s impressive exterior reputation and reSAWN’s design process, BRIZA is durable, dimensionally stable, and resistant to rot and insects.
