To create a clean and simple contrast to the lush surrounding landscape, the Roslyn Harbor House is clad entirely in SURETO Shou Sugi Ban Cypress, selected for its rich, deep tone and cohesion with the design’s stone, steel, and glass elements.

- Product Selection: reSAWN provided samples and guidance that informed the selection of SURETO Shou Sugi Ban Cypress cladding. To support the striking modern design with a near-black finish, different charred samples were explored, with the design team choosing SURETO for its beautiful color variation and visual impact. The natural oils of cypress make it well suited to coastal, variable climates like Roslyn Harbor, NY, while our award-wining charring process provides additional stability and durability.
