Serenité at Camelback Mountain is set high on the ridge of the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, surrounded by forested slopes and open skies. The properties’ luxury residences overlook the surrounding mountain ranges and Camelback’s ski trails, tucked into the landscape and connected by winding roads. This private club highlights more than just a breathtaking landscape. Throughout the property, mountain architecture, outdoor gathering spaces, and wellness-focused amenities integrate into the terrain.
For a commercial project of this scale, the design team sought a high-performing, low-maintenance cladding that would weather well, with a warranty, and suit the visual goals of the property. After office visits at RESAWN and a review of on-site weathering rigs, the architects and the building owners were able to make a confident and informed material decision. A CUSTOM acetylated modified wood product proved to be an ideal fit, offering the durability and stability needed for the mountain environment.
The project required a range of custom components, with the design intent centered around using the same material across multiple details. From corners and wide fascias to window casings and trim elements, the custom wood materials provided the flexibility and stability needed to shape the desired aesthetic. Balancing high performance with varied connection details and terminations required close coordination, ensuring the final application felt consistent and true to the overall design.
Through continued collaboration, RESAWN helped the project teams navigate material selection, custom detailing, and performance considerations from early review through final application. This partnership supported a consistent material expression across the property, giving the design team a reliable solution that responded to the mountain setting while preserving the visual intent of the architecture across exterior cladding, decking, and interior cladding applications.
