Just a block away from the San Miguel River, this 4,700 square foot new-build features HOWAITO shou sugi ban charred Cypress and MATSU shou sugi ban charred Accoya exterior wood cladding. This residence is nestled away in a neighborhood near all that Telluride has to offer. A mere few blocks away, there is a Gondola that can take you to the surrounding mountains, trails, and ski resort, all while still being a short walk from the local breweries and eateries. The property features rare views of the ski area, Bear Creek, and the San Miguel River corridor.

MATSU by reSAWN TIMBER co. features charred Accoya wood burnt in the Japanese style of shou sugi ban, and can be used for interior and exterior applications.

Accoya wood is the result of decades of research and development that has brought together a long-established, extensively proven wood modification technique and leading-edge patented technology – acetylation to create a high-performance wood, ideal for outdoor use and challenging applications.

HOWAITO by reSAWN TIMBER co. features charred Cypress burnt in the Japanese style of shou sugi ban, and can be used for interior and exterior applications.

HOWAITO is made with Cypress sourced from the Southern United States. With its legendary beauty and natural durability, Cypress has long been a staple as an exterior wood siding product. Because Cypress generates its own preservative oil, called cypressene, it’s an ideal wood for locations with constant heat, humidity, and torrential rains.

Tommy Hein‘s work reflects a deep appreciation for the potential of architecture to enhance one’s life through the creation of built forms and the organization of space. They are dedicated to creating unique buildings appropriate to their environment as well as their cultural context. Each project grows from its site, embracing the nature of materials and light. Environmental and Social Responsibility are their highest priorities; they practice green building construction and passive solar design on all of their projects.
