The AIA Colorado Annual Design Awards honor the most outstanding work of AIA Colorado members and their firms, which reinforces the value of great architecture and highlights members’ positive contributions to the community. Previous design award recipients have designed innovative schools, stunning custom homes, creative hotels, excellent community gathering spaces and much more.
Additionally, the AIA Colorado Honor Awards recognize the people and teams who are making a difference in the architecture profession and their communities. They’re committed to continually growing as architects, value-creating a strong team and recognize the power of architecture in our daily lives.
In the nighttime, the Blur residence is a shadow that seems to float above the ground, a dark silhouette provided by the dark shou sugi ban exterior, countered by the light that lives inside.
DUNCAN 2.0 Western Red Cedar is carefully charred, misted with water, cooled, brushed and then stained/sealed. The top coat sealer is applied prior to shipping (for exterior applications, we recommend sealing the backside as well as the face). The burning process accentuates the wood grain and creates varying colors when viewed from different angles and in various lighting.
