BARK is the chef driven and environmentally mindful American fast casual restaurant from chef/owner Joshua Sharkey. Opened in Park Slope Brooklyn in 2009, the idea was simple: make American fast food better. Use Great ingredients and source them from great farmers and artisans, use proper techniques, add a happy and productive team and you have the recipe for an altogether new and far better way to enjoy the American classics.
In 2015, BARK brought their lard-butter-basted frankfurters to Bleecker Street in Manhattan to much acclaim. The new branch is larger than the home base by about a third. That’s room enough for new items including a take on a green-chile cheeseburger and a brown-butter-pecan shake, plus a DIY “condiment center.”
BARK on Bleeker Street featured reSAWN’s RESONANCE Antique Reclaimed Heart Pine in select grade. Heart Pine is a species of wood that suffered near-extinction, in this case due to over-harvesting. RESONANCE includes a mix of tight grain and wide grain and ranges in color from yellow to a deep orange patina.
RESONANCE was specified by Manhattan firm Openshop – a unique design firm practicing the philosophy of “deep play”.
Deep Play is our way of understanding how the work we do is part of our total life experience. We want our lives to be important and fun. This breeds collaboration and commitment to our work, making it a process and a product. We endeavor to find importance and fun by crafting ideas, objects and experiences that pass these values onto others. –OSTHINKS
