Just a few hundred yards from the Atlantic Ocean on over three acres, Jule Pond II is a breathtaking and unique private residence spanning over 10,000 square feet. With views of Jule Pond and farmland, the views are breathtaking. Stone pavers lead you through the courtyard to the entryway, featuring a sunken patio and fire pit. The MONOGATARI 2.0 shou sugi ban brise soleil spans two stories while visually connecting the three wings of the home. The design of the brise soliel provides a beautiful interval pattern that also extends past the house itself, incorporating it into the landscaping.
The shou sugi ban cladding effortlessly transitions into the entryway, providing a stunning visual contrast surrounding the grand concrete staircase. The level of detail can be seen throughout the home, with dark and light contrasts that provide the same visual rhythm as the exterior. The back of the home features an extensive infinity pool surrounded by a sprawling patio. MONOGATARI 2.0 is incorporated into the arbor over the outdoor dining area, bringing the dark contrast to the back of the home, which is clad in unfinished cedar.
MONOGATARI 2.0 is carefully charred, misted with water, cooled, brushed, and then finished. The burning process accentuates the wood grain and creates varying colors when viewed from different angles and in different light. With its legendary beauty and natural durability, Cypress has long been a staple as an exterior wood siding product. Because Cypress generates its own preservative oil, called cypressene, it’s an ideal wood for locations with constant heat, humidity, and torrential rains.
Our award-winning charred products pay homage to the traditional Japanese technique of “shou-sugi-ban” aka “yakisugi” without being literal. Historically very specific in their definition, “shou-sugi-ban” and “yakisugi” have become common nomenclature for modern charred wood designs in general. All of reSAWN’s charred products are made in the USA, in our facility in Telford, PA.
