A Key West residence used reSAWN's NEWPORT

Located at the very end of the Overseas Highway in northern Key West, this bayside private residence included reSAWN’s NEWPORT black walnut flooring and stair treads. A cement driveway surround and raised first floor give the exterior a classic beach house aesthetic. The interior is designed around an open floor plan with living room, dining room, and kitchen in one area. With NEWPORT black walnut flooring on both the main floor and top floor, the homeowners included custom designed black walnut stair treads to connect the two floors.

The North Face is a well established outdoor sports brand under the ownership umbrella of VF Corporation. The brand joins the likes of JanSport and Timberland in VF Corporation’s “Outdoor Action Sports” section. With the company’s background and identity as an outdoor sports clothing and equipment retailer, they were inspired by the ruggedness and simplicity of nature. Architecture and design team, Rapt Studio, used reSAWN’s MERCER white oak flooring , exposed ceilings, and brick walls to convey The North Face brand.

Dixon Hughes Goodman, LLP included reSAWN’s KINOKO shou sugi ban reclaimed hemlock wall cladding in their new Gaithersburg location. Located in the LEED-EB Platinum certified, One Washingtonian Center, Dixon Hughes Goodman made the move from Rockville, MD with an increased focus on sustainability. Gensler-DC designed the office space with sustainable features and a simple aesthetic.

2016 Recap :: Our Favorite Projects from This Year

2016 brought an abundance of charred shou sugi ban, reclaimed wood, FSC certified flooring, solid, custom built furniture, and sometimes a little bit of everything. From the Longport Residence and Commonwealth Joe to Sushi Ganso and the University of Delaware, reSAWN TIMBER co. focused on consistently providing high-quality products for commercial and residential projects both large and small. reSAWN intends to provide the best possible customer experience from the sampling phase through project completion, and continues to innovate by asking, “Could we be doing this better?”

There is much to be excited about in 2017, but for now, let’s look back at 10 of our favorite projects from 2016.

Mixed shou sugi ban charred cypress wall cladding at Commonwealth Joe

With an origin story that includes a mother and son coffee roasting team, biking cold brew coffee kegs to farmer’s markets and high-tech offices, and supplying coffee to the owners’ favorite indie coffee shops, Commonwealth Joe Coffee Roasters has opened its first permanent location at the former home of “Arlington’s Original Coffee House.” The four childhood friends who make up the ownership group bought the “Java Shack” from owner Dale Roberts in 2015, and were named the D.C. metropolitan’s “Best Coffee Shop” by Washington City Paper in 2016.

Located in the coastal town of Bellport, the residence has a heavily wooded landscape and cul-de-sac neighborhood. The ocean is never too far away, though, with a stiff, salty sea breeze. It’s the same breeze that requires the installation of a high-quality exterior wood siding. Studio DB specified reSAWN’s MATSU charred shou sugi ban Accoya® for its superior exterior durability. A modified pine, Accoya® is a high performance wood that’s ideal for exterior applications because of its increased product lifespan, dimensional stability, lower maintenance frequency, and improved carbon sequestration. NeoCon East Recap :: reSAWN TIMBER co. Captivates with Unique Wood Designs

Launched in 2003, NeoCon East has positioned itself as the premier design expo and conference for interiors on the east coast. After twelve years in Baltimore, MD, NeoCon East changed its location to Philadelphia, PA in 2015. A successful first year convinced the conference organizers to once again host the trade show in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’. Just an hour drive down the Pennsylvania Turnpike, reSAWN TIMBER co. was excited to bring its wide array of shou sugi ban, flooring wall cladding, and furniture collections to the Pennsylvania Convention Center for NeoCon East 2016.
